Before and after school programs don’t just fill the gaps in a child’s day—they hold the hardest moments. Children arrive tired, overstimulated, hungry, and emotionally full after a long day at school. Educators step into fast-paced environments with mixed ages, constant transitions, and big behaviours—often while running on empty themselves. In this engaging and reflective session, Jamie Wagler (RECE, OCT, consultant, and keynote speaker) invites participants to pause, reframe, and reconnect with what’s really happening during the before and after school hours. Together, we’ll explore why behaviour looks different in these settings, how stress and fatigue show up in children’s bodies and actions, and what actually helps when traditional strategies stop working. Through real-life examples, practical strategies, and moments of reflection, this session balances insight with action. Educators and leaders will leave feeling validated, energized, and more confident in their ability to support children—and themselves—during the most demanding hours of the day.
